As a mom of three, I've become increasingly mindful of the ways that "cleaning" my home can actually create a mess of toxins within our space. Instead of spraying traditional cleaners "just this one last time," I've finally committed to switching and ditching chemical-laden products for the powerful cleaning powers of essential oils.
Harnessing the power of essential oils for home cleaning is a good idea for so many reasons:
-It's easy on your budget. You can make cleaners in bulk and save a ton of money!
-Every spray, scrub, and wipe down is 100% worry free since you know EXACTLY what's in your cleaning products.
-Your house will smell so amazing you might never want to leave.
-You can easily get your kiddos involved! My babes love playing "scientists" in the kitchen while we blend oils to make cleaning recipes.
- Once you learn the foundations of recipes, you can customize them to suit your preferences.
The list goes on, but I'll stop there because I'm eager to share my top 3 essential oil home cleaning methods. Let's dive in!
Note: These blends are perfect for beginners who want to explore natural cleaning options but haven't been sure where to start. All oils used in these recipes are available in the Young Living Oils Starter Kit

3 Essential Oil Home Cleaner Recipes
1. ) Simple-2-Step Everything Cleaner
I discovered this perfectly simple when I first discovered Young Living Oils. From counters to tables, windows to sink and a refreshing wipe down for your car.
Here’s the recipe:
16 oz Amber spray bottle (available via Amazon)
2 oz Concentrated Thieves cleaner
Fill the rest with distilled water and gently shake to combine.
2.) Room Refresh Spray
When we use over the counter home “refreshing” spray, we’re actually introducing toxic chemicals into our space. Instead, opt for this blend of cleansing florals and citrus to brighten up the air in your home, office, car, and refresh linens.
Here’s the recipe:
4 oz Spray bottle
10 Drops Lavender Oil
10 Drops Citrus Fresh Oil
10 Drops Rosemary or Palo Santo Oil
Fill the rest with distilled water
3.) Cleansing Bedtime Diffuser
One of the easiest ways to “switch + ditch” is to get rid of the toxic candles and introduce a diffuser into your space. Oil diffusers allow you to customize your atmosphere in just a few moments, filling your home with intention and cleansing aromatherapy.
This is the perfect end-of-day blend to support your evening routine and cleanse any lingering toxins.
Add this Sweet Dream Blend to your diffuser:
2 Drops Copaiba Oil
2 Drops Lavender Oil
2 Drops Stress Away Oil
